Pinterest toimi inspiraation lähteenä, kun rupesin tällaista laskemispeliä kasaamaan lapselle. Englannissa asuessamme lapsi oli hoidossa montessori-päiväkodissa, missä tällaisten yksinkertaisten opettavaisten pelien käyttö oli arkipäivää. Oikeastaan mitäänhän tässä ei varsinaisesti pelata, lasketaan vain ja opetellaan numeroita.
Tekeminen on superhelppoa - tarvikkeet löytyvät varmasti kotoa melkein aina. Minulla sattui olemaan vanhoja puisia numeronappuloita vintage-pelistä, minkä olen ostanut Englannista kirppikseltä vain hienojen namiskoiden ja korttien takia. Nappulat voi tietysti korvata pahvi- tai paperilapuilla, joihin voi kirjoittaa numerot yhdestä kymmeneen. Herneiden tilalla voi käyttää vaikkapa kuivia papuja, helmiä tai pikkukiviä.

Pinterest is always full of great and simple ideas, and that's where I got the inspiration for this egg carton counting game. Our daughter used to attend a Montessori nursery while we lived in the UK, and games like these were part of their everyday routines there. Well, it's not an actual game, but it helps the child understand numbers and counting.
This one's super easy to make, too. You can usually find all the supplies at home. I had some wooden numbers from a vintage game I'd bought from a charity shop just because of the nice cards and pieces. You could use handwritten paper or cardboard pieces instead.
And if you don't happen to have any dry peas, use beans, beads or little stones instead.
